Antique Armoire Wardrobe Hand Hewn Planks Early Americana Rustic Milk Paint
This is a stunning early americana piece. Pictures do not do this piece justice. It is all hand made. The planks were hand-hewn and the molding was hand carved. It is pieced together using dove tail joints and wooden pegs. Very rustic piece. A metal lock was added later in its life. There are three hand hewn shelves on the inside. It has two layers of paint. The top layer is robin's egg blue milk paint. Underneath the milk paint are handpainted flowers and vines that are peeping through. Estimated date of manufacture is mid to late 1800's. We believe the wood is pre-blight chestnut, but we are not 100% sure of that. This is a large wardrobe, very solid and heavy. It is 4 1/2ft x 6 1/2ft x 2 1/2ft. Never been restored. Due to its large size we can not ship. It is local pick-up only. E-mail to arrange a viewing.
